1. About these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of un86, an online platform available at un86.io and operated by un86 LLC (Charlotte, North Carolina) that connects restaurants and other food-service employers with people seeking restaurant work. References to "un86", "we", "us", or "our" mean un86 LLC. By creating an account or using un86, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Who can use un86

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to work in the location where you seek or offer employment. You may register as:

  • An employer — a restaurant or food-service business posting jobs and reviewing candidates.
  • A job seeker — a person looking for restaurant work.

One person may hold only one account, and it must reflect your true role. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

3. Subscriptions and billing

  • Employer plan — $50 per month: post multiple job listings, browse and like candidates, receive match alerts, and message matched candidates.
  • Job seekers — free: apply to unlimited jobs, receive match alerts, and message matched restaurants.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. Core matching features are locked until an active subscription is in place. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change plan prices with reasonable advance notice; continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.

Launch free-month offers. While available, the first 100 restaurants to subscribe receive a 30-day free trial of the Employer plan. A valid payment method is required to start the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid plan and your payment method is charged $50 per month, plus applicable taxes, starting on the day the trial ends and every month after until you cancel. We will email you a reminder before the trial ends. You can cancel at any time from Profile → Billing; cancelling during the trial means you will not be charged. The first 100 job seekers may show one looking-for-work post free for 30 days; no payment method is required and nothing is charged automatically when it ends. Each offer is limited to one per person or business, has no cash value, and may be ended or changed at any time once the spots are filled or with notice.

4. Employer obligations

  • Post only genuine, current job openings with accurate pay, schedule, and role descriptions.
  • Do not discriminate against candidates on any legally protected ground, and comply with all applicable employment, wage, and workplace-safety laws.
  • Do not charge job seekers any fee as a condition of applying or being hired through un86.

5. Job seeker obligations

  • Provide accurate information about your identity, experience, certifications, and work eligibility.
  • Do not apply on behalf of others, submit false credentials, or use the platform to solicit or advertise.

6. Matches and messaging

A match occurs when an employer and a job seeker both express interest in each other for a specific job. Matching does not create any employment relationship with un86 or any guarantee of hiring. Once matched, both parties may message each other through the app. Harassment, spam, abuse, or unlawful content is prohibited and may lead to immediate suspension without refund.

7. Acceptable use, reporting and blocking

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Any user can report a job post, profile, photo or message using the Report option, and can block another user so they no longer receive that person's messages. We review reports within 24 hours and may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms. Reports are kept private from the reported user. You agree not to: scrape or harvest data from the platform; impersonate any person or business; upload malicious code; circumvent subscription limits or access controls; or use un86 for any purpose outside restaurant recruitment.

8. Content you submit

You keep ownership of the content you submit (profiles, job posts, messages, photos). You grant un86 a limited, worldwide license to host, display, and process that content solely to operate and improve the service. You are responsible for having the rights to everything you submit.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, provide false information, or create legal risk for un86, its users, or its partners. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

10. Disclaimers

un86 provides introductions only and is not a party to any employment, contractor, or payment relationship between employers and job seekers. We do not verify every listing or profile and make no guarantee of hiring, employment, or candidate quality. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, un86 LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or hiring outcomes. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "last updated" date, and material changes will be notified in the app.

13. Privacy

We collect the information you provide (name, contact details, profile details, job posts, likes, and messages), plus basic technical data needed to run the service. We use it to create matches, operate messaging, process subscriptions, and keep the platform safe. We do not sell your personal data. Profiles and jobs are visible to other signed-in users as part of matching; messages are visible only to matched parties. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time, and deleting your account removes your profile and personal content.

14. Resumes and sensitive information

Job seekers may upload a resume. Resumes are visible only to the uploader and to employers who have matched with that job seeker. Do not include government ID numbers, financial account details, or other highly sensitive information in your resume or profile. Phone numbers are visible only to you, and to restaurants you match with if you turn on calls and are never shown to other users.

15. Location data

If you allow it, un86 uses your device's approximate location to show nearby jobs and restaurants. Location is used only on your device to sort and filter listings and is not stored on our servers or shared with other users. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time and enter a city manually instead.

16. No background checks; "Verified" badge

un86 does not run background checks, reference checks, or identity verification on employers or job seekers. The "Verified" badge on a restaurant's listing means only that the restaurant has an active paid subscription — it is not an endorsement, accreditation, or confirmation of the business's legitimacy. Always exercise your own judgment before sharing personal details, attending an interview, or accepting work.

17. AI-generated content

Some profile descriptions may be drafted with the help of an AI writing tool at the account owner's request. The account owner is responsible for reviewing and confirming that any AI-assisted content is accurate before publishing it.

18. Payments and third-party services

Payments on the website are processed by Stripe; un86 does not store your full card details. Purchases made inside the un86 iPhone app are processed by Apple, billed to your Apple ID, renew automatically unless turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the period, are managed and cancelled in your Apple ID settings, and are refunded only by Apple under its policies. Sign-in may be provided through Apple or Google; your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Applicable sales tax may be added to subscription prices where required by law.

19. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on un86 infringes your copyright, contact us with a description of the work, where it appears on the platform, and your contact details. We will remove or disable access to infringing material where appropriate and may terminate repeat infringers' accounts.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of North Carolina, where un86 LLC is registered in Charlotte, North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to first try to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

21. Data retention

We keep your personal information only as long as your account is open or as needed to provide the service:

  • Account, profile, resume, posts, matches and messages: kept while your account is active and permanently deleted when you delete your account in the app.
  • Job posts: hidden from the public 7 days after posting unless renewed, and deleted with the restaurant's account.
  • In-app alerts: kept while your account is active so you can review your alert history.
  • Billing records: subscription and invoice records are kept by our payment processor, Stripe, for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require (typically up to 7 years), even after your account is deleted.
  • Device location: never stored on our servers.
  • Backups and legal holds: deleted data may remain in secure backups for a short period before being overwritten, and we may keep information longer where required to comply with law, resolve disputes or enforce these Terms.

22. Age requirement (18+)

un86 is intended only for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it and its data. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us.

23. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and why.
  • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Delete your personal information. You can do this yourself at any time by deleting your account in the app.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information, most of which you can edit directly in your profile.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing. un86 does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Limit use of sensitive information. We use sensitive information (such as account login details) only to provide the service.
  • Non-discrimination. We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

Categories we collect: identifiers (name, email, phone, account ID), professional information (work experience, resume, job preferences), commercial information (subscription and invoice records for restaurants), user content (posts and messages), and approximate location used only on your device. We disclose information only to service providers that help run un86 (hosting, Stripe for payments, and Apple or Google for sign-in), and to other users as described in these Terms. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will verify your identity before responding, and you may use an authorized agent. We respond within 45 days.
